One Health. One World.
Making progress in countries that need it most.
The Need
Early detection for outbreak prevention.
To detect diseases early enough to prevent significant outbreaks, it’s essential to screen samples for novel, emerging pathogens using the most advanced and accurate molecular tests. Labs with these capabilities are often located too far from rural areas, where many samples are collected, to maintain nucleic acid quality and testing accuracy.
To improve the safety of Point of Collection testing, the International Organization on Migration (IOM) used PrimeStore MTM for testing in refugee camps in Ethiopia, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Philippines, Yemen, Nigeria, and Kenya. Organizations are using PrimeStore MTM for testing in the indigenous population in rural Australia.
Most pandemic diseases originate from the developing world where medical resources and research may be lacking.
Our Approach
Stopping pandemics at the source.
To address the challenge of sample preservation and delivery in developing areas, we created PrimeStore MTM to be a stable, accessible and affordable sample collection and transport device. We enable researchers across rural and metropolitan regions in developing countries to procure PrimeStore MTM so they can safely and quickly transport a quality sample to a laboratory, which can then effectively test that sample using modern molecular platforms.
Human, animal, and plant samples shipped in PrimeStore MTM consistently outperform other sample collection systems, leading to more effective and accurate molecular testing. Even where Point of Care systems such as the Cepheid GeneXpert MTB/RIF test are deployed, PrimeStore MTM has demonstrated the ability to improve sensitivity in low copy samples and allow for the same sample to be transported for additional drug susceptibility testing (DST).
